Sarah Huckabee Sanders is no pushover. CNN pundit Jim Acosta tried to bully her into paying attention to him during a White House press briefing. She quickly put him in his place.
“Sarah, this is the third press briefing you have not taken a question from CNN,” Acosta yelled Monday. “Do you expect the Justice Department to enforce all subpoenas, Sarah?”
He carried his wounded feelings home with him and complained on Twitter.
Third press briefing in a row that @PressSec did not take a question from CNN. #courage
— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) March 5, 2018
Sanders responded immediately.
“Courage is combat veterans Sgt. Peck and Staff Sgt. Dwyer — the two heroes at the briefing. #itsnotaboutyou,” she tweeted.
It’s not the first time that Sanders has brought Acosta down a peg. She also tore into the fake news host at the end of last year.
“When journalists make honest mistakes, they should own up to them. Sometimes, and a lot of times, you don’t,” Sanders sniped at him.
“I’m sorry, I’m not finished… There is a very big difference between making honest mistakes and purposefully misleading the American people… you cannot say it’s an honest mistake when you’re purposely putting out information you know is false.”
Acosta barely slowed down after Sanders outed him as a phony.
Millennials don’t seem to mind fake news as long as it’s “woke.” President Trump himself once threw Acosta out of a press briefing, and instead of tanking his reputation, the incident buoyed him. CNN viewers love him precisely because he’s more of an entertainer than a traditional journalist.
“Jim, I’m gonna say once and for all that I’m moving on,” Sanders said last December. “I’m not taking another question from you.”
CNN is going to continue sending Acosta to the White House because it’s good for ratings. Will Sanders start taking questions from him again? She’s not interested in playing games but she also knows that he’s looking for something that he can twist into being sensational rather than the truth.
