Roy Moore is pulling a Clinton. He’s ignoring reason and clinging to a losing political battle. Hours before Doug Jones was confirmed as Alabama’s next senator, Moore filed a lawsuit in court disputing Jones’ win. He demanded a new election and used buzzwords like “voter fraud” to bolster his point.
His request was denied. On Thursday Alabama’s secretary of state certified Jones’ win.
Moore’s appeal was founded on wishful thinking and a professed belief in his own innocence. His campaign was roiled by multiple sexual molestation allegations lobbed at him by women who say he attacked them while they were underage.
Moore continues to deny their claims. This week he announced that he’d passed a polygraph test. He believes that the election was unfairly tainted by the accusations.
“It was a renowned independent expert that he went before and took the polygraph test. And, not surprising to anyone who knows Judge Moore, he completely passed it,” Moore spokeswoman Janet Porte said Thursday.
“Whaddya know? He didn’t know any of these women…”
If Moore did take a polygraph test, he’s coming forward too late for it to do any good. Jones beat him fair and square.
“That examination concerned allegations of sexual misconduct made against me during the last month of the campaign by Leigh Corfman, Beverly Nelson, and Tina Johnson for ‘alleged’ conduct approximately 30-40 years ago,” Moore said.
“As I had expected, the results of the examination reflected that I did not know, nor had I ever had any sexual contact with, any of these individuals.”
Do you believe him?
