The Trump administration continues to reshape itself. Less than 24 hours after Doug Jones’ stunning upset in Alabama, Trump protege Omarosa Manigault announced her resignation.
Manigault’s controversial tenure as a senior staffer was both short-lived and ineffective. She was a powerhouse when she appeared on The Apprentice, but working at the White House proved to be too much.
“Omarosa Manigault Newman resigned yesterday to pursue other opportunities. Her departure will not be effective until January 20, 2018. We wish her the best in future endeavors and are grateful for her service,” a Trump staffer wrote in a measured statement.
Manigault is spinning her resignation as a victory for personal beliefs. Her team claims that she’s been fed up with the president’s antics for months. Trump endorsing accused pedophile Roy Moore was the last straw it.
Others repudiate those claims. An anonymous source said Manigault was kicked out of the White House for poor performance.
‘Why would you be planning Black History Month events if you were going to resign after Roy Moore?” the source asked, noting that Manigault had already begun preparing for the February event.
Manigault’s numerous enemies are rejoicing. Her sudden fall from power is as striking as her rise.
“I made mincemeat of her… I said, ‘I was here when you got fired the last time and I’ll be here when you get fired this time.… I’ve been doing well. What were you doing last year? Nothing but selling cell phones,” snarked American Urban Radio Network’s April Ryan.
Manigault hasn’t publicly commented on her resignation.
