Steve Bannon is now planning to cooperate with the Mueller investigation. Fired from both his prestigious position at the White House and his cushy job at Breitbart, Bannon’s lashing out like a cornered predator.
The Daily Caller writes: “Bannon is slated to take questions from members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence next week. The interview could present danger to the Trump administration, as Bannon — lately spurned by longtime friends and allies — could be unpredictable in the aftermath of his break with the president.”
The Russia-Trump collusion scandal is based on lies and exaggerations, but special prosecutor Robert Mueller is leading a real investigation. Who knows what Bannon might say to him? There’s nothing that would please Democrats more than criminal charges filed against President Trump. Mueller has already shown his bias, with Bannon’s help he might able to twist reality enough to justify charges.
“Bannon has hired William Burck of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan… Burck also represents White House Counsel Don McGahn and former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus in connection with the Russia probe,” the Daily Caller continues.
It’s not unusual for defendants who are caught up in the same investigation to share an attorney. Not everyone, however, approves.
“In general, prosecutors don’t like it when the same attorney represents multiple people who are subjects—or more—because it looks like they’re controlling the story,” said Ken White, a former federal prosecutor.
Bannon first rattled the Trump administration by lying in a series of highly-publicized interviews with Michael Wolff.
Source close to the White House: “I wonder if POTUS has considered the fact that Steve Bannon hasn’t yet testified before congressional committees and/or met with Mueller.”
