The Democrats’ appalling behavior during President Trump’s State of the Union didn’t win them a lot of support with the average American. The Democrats booed and hissed like snakes while Trump spoke, treating him like an enemy.
The rest of America, meanwhile, fell in love with Donald Trump again. The frenzied scandals of the last few months were forgotten as the president stood resolutely before Congress, detailing the victories his administration has achieved. Hope in the American dream was revived last night.
Trump didn’t hesitate to speak about immigration. He stuck to his convictions and derided both chain migration and the flimsy border security protocols put in place by his predecessor.
“Under the current broken system, a single immigrant can bring in virtually unlimited numbers of distant relatives,” Trump said. “Under our plan, we focus on the immediate family by limiting sponsorships to spouses and minor children. This vital reform is necessary, not just for our economy, but for our security, and our future.”
Democrats reacted to Trump’s words by loudly booing.
Those who wanted to express their outrage but didn’t get the chance to disrespect the president to his face took to social media. Twitter and Facebook erupted with offensive commentary and lies regarding the State of the Union speech long before Trump was done speaking.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi snarked on Twitter: “Reminder: when @realDonaldTrump says we need to end ‘chain migration,’ he means we need to stop making it a priority to keep families together.”
Trump prioritizes security. Keeping families together is a nice thought, but it’s not a practical immigration strategy.
“In the age of terrorism, these programmes present risks we can no longer afford,” Trump said. “It is time to reform these outdated immigration rules, and finally bring our immigration system into the 21st century.”
Democrats are bitter because Trump’s so successful. They predicted that his presidency would be a flop yet in less than one year he’s been able to implement key parts of his agenda.
