President Trump did an interview recently with TIME Magazine as a part of a cover project they titled “is Truth Dead?” The interview was done with TIME Washington Bureau Chief Michael Scherer on March 22.
The idea was to get the President his assessment of how he handled truth and falsehood.
When asked about his predictions, Trump had this to say:
Yeah, it’s a cool story. I mean it’s, the concept is right. I predicted a lot of things, Michael. Some things that came to you a little bit later. But, you know, we just rolled out a list. Sweden. I make the statement, everyone goes crazy. The next day they have a massive riot, and death, and problems.
Scherer did his best to nail the President down on the specifics of other predictions that he made that have yet to be undeniably confirmed. However, the President remained un-phased.
When pressed about whether he thought what he was saying would be backed up by the intelligence community President Trump said:
“I inherited a mess, I inherited a mess in so many ways. I inherited a mess in the Middle East, and a mess with North Korea, I inherited a mess with jobs, despite the statistics, you know, my statistics are even better, but they are not the real statistics because you have millions of people that can’t get a job, ok. . .Hey look, in the mean time, I guess, I can’t be doing so badly, because I’m president, and you’re not.”
Some might call this dismissive or trite, but when you look at it in the light of not only accomplishment but clearance rating. Yes, winning the Presidental election was an incredible thing, but he is privy to all sorts of information that you and I will never know anything about, and rightly so.
It’s no big secret that President Trump is a little proud of what he’s accomplished while in office, but wouldn’t you be? Give the man a break, he’s running the world.
