The Department of Justice, with the help of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, are planning to deal with the immigrant problem in their own way; and not just the illegals.
With an already overburdened prison system, it’s frustrating that such a high number of that population are immigrants. A program called the Institutional Hearing Program is going to be brought back to life in order to clear out a little space for our homegrown troublemakers.
Via Daily Caller:
The Institutional Hearing Program (IHP) uses in-person and video-conference hearing in order for judges to determine whether an immigrant, regardless of legal status, should be deported. Bureau of Prison statistics show that a little over 20 percent of federal inmates are non-citizens.
“We owe it to the American people to ensure that illegal aliens who have been convicted of crimes and are serving time in our federal prisons are expeditiously removed from our country as the law requires,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement. “This expansion and modernization of the Institutional Hearing Program gives us the tools to continue making Americans safe again in their communities.”
This comes on the heels of his announcement of the federal funding cuts planned for cities that don’t comply with requests from ICE and other governmental regulations regarding illegal immigrants.

I think it’s interesting to note that no matter the legal status of the immigrant, they might be deported. That would be because our current leadership realizes that staying here in this country, when you’re not born here, is a privilege, not a right. It also makes certain criminals not our problem. If we’re being honest, in some cases the government would probably like to ship our very own trouble making American citizens overseas, if we could find someone to take our castoffs. But we’re not Syria, so we don’t do that.
At the very least, this will clear out some of the over 2.2 million incarcerated and allow for judges to have easier access to their cases. At best, it will show immigrants that prison is more than 3 squares a day and free housing; they might get a one-way ticket home as well.
