In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault and harassment scandal, Ben Affleck has found himself in the cross fire after attempting to side with the female victims of the producer.
In the hours after the NYT published its first story on Weinstein, Affleck posted statements on Twitter and Facebook, but was immediately destroyed by Rose McGowan, one of Weinstein’s victims.
McGowan is calling out Affleck as a hypocrite, claiming that she told the A-lister about Weinstein’s abuse years ago, only to have Affleck fain playing dumb after recent events.
She tweeted the following about the star:

Now, the general public are entering the debate, accusing Affleck of groping actress Hilarie Burton on TRL once. One Twitter user posted about the incident, and things just went on from there:

Burton went on to comment that she was just a kid when the incident happened, and followed up with a message of praise for all of the women coming forward. She also posted a video that included the outtake of her experience:

Burton was best known for her starring role on One Tree Hill, and was only 21-years-old at the time of the incident.
The video resurfaced just hours after Affleck wrote of how sickened was at Weinstein’s actions and abuse against women, even going as far as to say that we must “condemn this type of behavior when we see it.”
In an even more ironic and troubling turn of events, Affleck’s brother Casey Affleck has also recently undergone public scrutiny for a prior civil sexual harassment lawsuit.
Affleck has not returned a comment on the video, but has been asked by multiple news outlets.
