One of the many profitable ventures afforded to every president upon leaving the White House is getting paid boat-loads of cash to write “tell-all” memoirs about their experiences as president.
For Obama, the guy’s already written about himself on two separate occasions before becoming president, which highlights his narcissism, but he hasn’t cashed in yet on his post-presidency book. Before he calls up Bill Ayers to get to writing his next memoir, however, it looks like Michelle will be the first one to write about their days in the White House.
As reported at the Daily Mail, Michelle Obama has revealed the much-anticipated details about her rumored memoir, which is slated for release on November 13.
On Sunday, Michelle tweeted that her book would drop right after the midterm elections and that the title would be “Becoming.” The book is being hyped so much that it’ll be available in 24 languages on release day so people across the world can get a glimpse of the Obama’s private life. Michelle will also be narrating the audiobook version of the memoir, which is sure to spur significant interest.
“Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience,” she tweeted on Sunday afternoon.
“I talk about my roots and how a girl from the South Side found her voice. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can’t wait to share my story.“
Both Barack and Michelle inked a deal with powerhouse publisher Penguin Random House after the Obama presidency ended, and it’s rumored to be worth well in excess of $30 million.
Like their husbands, first ladies usually author their own books as well, but despite Barbara Bush’s and Hillary Clinton’s sales success, they likely won’t compare to the numbers Michelle’s memoir brings in.
“As first lady of the United States of America – the first African-American to serve in that role – she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world,” the publisher said in a statement.
No doubt the book will land on the best seller list. The only question now is how political she gets and if she spices it up with jabs at Trump. We’ll just have to wait and find out when the inevitable leaks are sprung.
