Megyn Kelly is going after Fox News with guns blazing. The host has been candid about the sexual harassment scandals that ruined the careers of her former co-workers. On Thursday Kelly described a humiliating experience that happened to her when applied to work at Fox.
“When I started at Fox News, I was 32, I had practiced law for 10 years already. I was asked to do the twirl and I did it,” Kelly said, her voice choked with passion.
“I am still humiliated by that. Humiliated that I did it… I felt degraded in the moment. I know it doesn’t sound like much but it is degrading and in the moment, you don’t know what to do.”
Kelly’s a beautiful woman, but her success as an anchor was founded on her steely demeanor and her ability to handle herself in tough interviews. Asking an adult woman to twirl like a child is degrading.
“You think, ‘I don’t want my relationship to fall apart. In my business, it’s a visual business. I’m not sure if it’s inappropriate,’” Kelly continued.
“If you want to pay a compliment to a woman in the office about how she looks, already you are in dicey territory, but ‘you look nice’ is always, I feel like that solid… You cross over into “hot,” less solid, less solid. Right? And to all those out there asking women to twirl, I got a whole lot of – for you.”
Kelly’s fluffy new show rarely airs such significant segments. The old hard-hitting Kelly may be making a comeback.
