Hollywood has spoken- Jane Fonda is a lot more popular than Megyn Kelly.
24 hours after Kelly eviscerated Fonda on-air, NBC chose to air a pre-taped episode of her morning show. A source insists that the decision was made last week, before Kelly’s blow-up, but that’s hard to believe. It’s a little too convenient.
Kelly and Fonda’s feud began months ago when Kelly awkwardly tried to press the actress to speak about her history of plastic surgery. It didn’t work. Fonda clammed up and Kelly bumbled the interview.
On Monday Kelly finally addressed the incident.
“Well, the truth is, most older women look nothing like Fonda, who is now 80. And if Fonda really wants to have an honest discussion about older women’s cultural face, then her plastic surgery is tough to ignore,” she snarled.
Hollywood reacted immediately. Hippie Fonda was defended by a score Tinseltown elites.
“Megyn Kelly is a moron – spineless wanna be barbie – she sucks and so does her show,” Rosie O’Donnell.
Debra Messing, who has her own beef Kelly, added: “This is disgusting. Shameful.”
Kelly can’t win. Either she’s the lackluster blond who keep her audience engaged, or she’s the viperish journalist nobody wants to trust. Ratings are slipping and there are already rumors that she’s going to be canned. The future of “Megyn Kelly Today” looks bleak.
The View’s Ann Curry weighed in on the scandal Tuesday.
“We’re witnessing what we saw yesterday, a certain amount of meanness that I think is – meanness which we should not tolerate,” Curry said.
“Journalists are not supposed to be the story and it’s a struggle, I think, for everyone to be, but we’re supposed to be humble. We’re supposed to use whatever time we’re given to shine a light on other stories. I mean there are so many stories that we’re not covering.”
Fonda has yet to respond.
