The McCain family has cause to celebrate. The View co-host Meghan McCain announced Thursday that she was engaged.
It’s been a rough time for the McCains. Meghan’s father, the 81-year-old senator, was recently diagnosed with advanced brain cancer. That hasn’t stopped him from getting into political tussles with President Trump, however.
“The View co-host Meghan McCain confirmed her engagement to the conservative writer and publisher Ben Domenech Thursday morning, flashing her large diamond ring,” writes the Daily Mail.
Meghan is a classy woman and doesn’t blab about her personal life everywhere. She’s been extremely private regarding her relationship, leaving her supporters with a lot of questions.
“This one works in politics and has for a long time so he wasn’t as intimidated and actually met my dad at my brother’s wedding for the first time and ended up talking about healthcare or something very wonky,” Meghan said of her fiance.
“He’s so conservative. He’s funny in his own way. I ultimately seem to have landed with the most conservative guy in the history of the world.”
Meghan said that the couple views their union as a new beginning in a time of hardship. The older generation is passing on.
Domenech, 35, “is a former speechwriter and publisher of the political insider newsletter The Transom, and frequently appears on Fox News and CNN.”
Sen. John McCain’s struggles against President Trump has a led a lot of people to forget that the McCain family is deeply conservative. Meghan is marrying a man whose views complement her own.
“Wait for people who love strong women,” Meghan said. “The men who love strong, independent women, they’re out there. Don’t settle for anything else.”
