The Miami-Dade police department filmed Sister Margaret Ann Coleman F. Carroll High School cutting down a fallen tree while dressed in a full habit. The resulting footage went viral almost immediately.
The sister, clad in religious garb and with a chainsaw roaring in her hands, looked liked she belonged in an action movie. A few social media users, however, felt that her outfit was inappropriate. Loose-fitting clothing can be hazardous when operating a chainsaw.
“We are so blessed to have her and the Carmelite Sisters at our school. We are proud of the example they show for our students and other members of the community every day,” Sister Margaret Ann’s school posted on its Facebook page Wednesday.
People connected to the sister’s story. She’s an awesome, hardworking woman who’s willing to roll up her sleeves and pitch in when things get tough.
“The road was blocked, we couldn’t get through,” Sister Margaret Ann told CNN. “And I saw somebody spin in the mud and almost go into a wall, going off the road. So, there was a need, I had the means — so I wanted to help out.”
