Anti-conservative John McCain has been making a lot of headlines recently thanks to his ongoing quarrel with President Trump. He’s been especially vocal as of late, making sure to position himself against the president’s policy proposals so their success will be dependent upon his support.
Like with Obamacare, McCain betrayed Republicans in their attempt to repeal it. And now, with the budget resolution and tax reform on the table, he’s once again positioned himself as one of the last necessary pieces for them to pass. It’s all thanks to both his aversion to conservative policy and his hatred for Trump.
Never one to miss an opportunity to lambast the president, McCain went on an embarrassing tirade against the administration’s policies during a recent speech, which is sure to draw the ire of the president, who’s promised to start fighting his critics.
As reported at the Hill, McCain recently gave a speech condemning Trump’s foreign policy, lamenting his “America First” stance and desire to be more isolationist than his predecessors.
In his speech, McCain said: “To refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain ‘the last best hope of earth’ for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history.”
What a load of garbage. “Last best hope for the earth?” What’s he on about. What McCain means by “international leadership” is really carrying the defense burden for the entire planet besides Russia, China, and North Korea. You see, McCain’s never seen a country he didn’t want to invade and prop an American puppet in. Which is why he’s so eager to expend blood and treasure on spurious nation-building projects the world over.
He’s a neocon, like Bush and all the moron “conservative thinkers” like Bill Kristol who helped get us into the disaster which has been our Middle Eastern military intervention.
McCain wants to talk about nationalism and looking out for our nation first being ideas that belong in the ash heap of history, which is ironic, considering that his neocon foreign policy beliefs were relegated there years ago. Seeing how his international interventionism and democratic nation-building ideology was very quickly and thoroughly proven disastrous for America and the entire world.
The senile McCain is obsessed with invading other countries. Bosnia, Kosovo, Russia, Georgia, China, North Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, and Mali are all nations he’s called for invading. Not only does he want our kids to die in backwater nations that have no influence or affect on the US, he wants us to ignore all the problems we have at home and so we can waste our taxpayer dollars on these ventures.
McCain has the temerity to call America Firsters unpatriotic while he shills for open borders that would see the US effectively become Neo-Mexico. Trump’s so-called “isolationism” can be summed up in a speech he gave outlining his vision for America.
“In foreign affairs, we are renewing this founding principle of sovereignty. Our government’s first duty is to its people, to our citizens — to serve their needs, to ensure their safety, to preserve their rights, and to defend their values. As President of the United States, I will always put America first, just like you, as the leaders of your countries will always, and should always, put your countries first,” Trump said. Talk about common sense. Yet McCain thinks this sentiment is unpatriotic.
If McCain wants to talk about history, he should understand that putting its interests above all others and being rather isolationist is what the US has done for most of its existence. WWI the US came out of its shell, but it mostly went back in in the aftermath. It wasn’t until WWII and after that, the US became a global hegemon, and that globalism really started to take hold.
What really needs to be relegated to the ash heap of history is McCain’s political career. He’s been stinking up Congress for decades and hurting the nation with his crazy ideology. It’s time he passes the reigns the folks who are actually going to be alive to suffer the foolish policies he would foist upon us all.
