“I have no reason to doubt these young women,”
Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ bold words are a bad sign for Alabama Senate hopeful Roy Moore. During a multi-hour grilling by the House Judiciary Committee, Sessions admitted that he believes Moore’s accusers.
Multiple women claim that Moore sexually abused them when they were teenagers. One woman says that he fondled her genitals when she was just 14. Another says that Moore trapped her inside a car and touched her against her will when she was 16.
The revolting accusations have turned public opinion against Moore, but he’s stubbornly refusing to abandon his campaign. Alabama may elect a Democrat to represent it on the national stage if someone doesn’t knock some reason into Moore.
The Washington Post reports: “The Republican National Committee has pulled out of a joint fundraising committee with GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore’s campaign, according to a new document filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission. The decision by the national party follows a similar move Friday by the National Republican Senatorial Committee…”
Moore’s campaign is barely surviving. There’s not enough time between now and the election to bury the accusations. Voters are going cast their votes knowing that Moore is a sexual predator accused of victimizing underage girls.
Sessions’ remarks show that Moore can’t expect any help from the White House. Washington Republicans have been quick to denounce him, President Trump is no different. He needs a miracle if he’s going to win.
He might get one. Crazier things have happened, unfortunately.
