In the top five campaign promises of all time you have a few normal, recurring sentiments. Candidates will always say they’ll lower taxes, be a politician of the people, et cetera, et cetera.
But Donald Trump took it one step further when he said he’d build a large physical border wall between the US and Mexico, keeping out the drugs, murderers, and rampant criminals. And Trump just delivered on that promise in the first week of being President.
Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order saying that we will build the wall, fulfilling his greatest campaign promise. The second part of that promise was that Mexico was going to pay for it. The left, and even some on the right, have been skeptical of that notion, but Trump has the plan all laid out.
Here’s exactly how Mexico will pay for the wall that America has needed for centuries.

On “America’s News HQ” today, Steve Moore, former economic advisor to Trump, explained how Trump could make Mexico pay for the wall.
Moore said one possibility is the creation of an import tariff with a provision that the funds go to pay for the wall.
He acknowledged this wouldn’t be his preferred strategy, but it’s something Trump could do unilaterally without congressional approval.
Moore said another option is to institute a border crossing fee whenever a person or vehicle enters the U.S. from Mexico.
“That wouldn’t necessarily be a bad way to fund it,” Moore said. “It’s sort of like a user fee. You’re using the border, so therefore you pay for security at the border.”
Either way, I’m all for those options. They are simple and the second on operates much like a toll you’d pay on a toll road in many states.
