The Trump administration is having a good week. Nebraska officials voted Monday to allow the controversial Keystone XL pipeline to cross the state. The Public Service Commission voted 3-2 in favor of the expansion. One vote was enough to give the president a massive victory.
Liberals protest like it’s a sport, so it can be hard to keep track of everything that they’ve taken issue with. The Keystone protest, however, was especially significant. The left fought against its expansion so strenuously that they cowed Obama. Two years ago he vetoed legislation that would have greenlit the pipeline.
“The Keystone Pipeline system transfers crude oil via a 2,600-mile route from Alberta, Canada, east into Manitoba, Canada, and then south across the US border to Texas,” writes CNN.
“The proposed Keystone XL Pipeline, which would stretch from Hardisty, Alberta, southeast to Steele City, Nebraska, would augment other pipelines and complete the entire system.”
President Trump fulfilled his promise to throw his weight behind by the project. Experts believe that the pipe’s construction and maintenance will trigger an economic boom in rural, depressed areas.
The vote comes just days after a massive oil spill from the existing pipeline in South Dakota alarmed activists.
“On-site specialists in Marshall County, South Dakota confirm the incident is under control and that there is no significant environmental impact observed or threat to public safety,” TransCanada said in a statement.
Fringe leftists hate the idea of accepting the pipeline’s expansion, but their influence has been muted since Obama left office.
