Socialist Bernie Sanders made a name for himself during the Democratic primary by promising all sorts of lavish government spending and handouts should he be elected president. He gave Hillary quite the fright, but never had a chance thanks to the DNC rigging the election against him.
Since his failed presidential bid, Bernie’s been coasting off publicity he received, using his newfound status to trash Trump and push for inane leftist policies. There’s even speculation that he’s going to run again in 2020. But that dream may be cut short thanks to the shady dealings of his wife and the investigation that’s been called against her.
As reported at Fox News a federal investigation that started 2016 and was aimed at uncovering into possible bank fraud by Jane Sanders is ongoing, with “a potential” grand jury review possible in the near future.
Not only could this undermine Bernie’s 2020 ambitions, it could also sink Jane Sanders’ daughter’s, Carina Driscoll, political pursuits as well.
Jane is under investigation for a land deal she brokered while she was president of Burlington College in Vermont in 2010. The university was looking to expand, so it tried to purchase land from a Catholic parish. Jane secured a $6.7 million loan from a bank and a $3.6 million loan from the parish from which she planned to purchase the property.
However, before the deal could be completed, she resigned in 2011 over allegations that she purposely inflated and made up the number of money donors have pledged to the school and provided incorrect information to a bank to get the loan. Since then, several people, who were listed as college donors, have come forward denying they ever made the commitments.
Former Burlington College Board Chairman Yves Bradley told Fox News that the investigation was still going strong, as he said he was visited by FBI agents in the last six weeks and asked about Jane’s involvement in the bank fraud scheme.
Coralee Holm, the former Burlington College dean of operations, also confirmed the probe “has not been closed” and that it has “no specific deadline” for completion.
“I have not talked with anyone since then, other than checking with the FBI agents,” she said over the phone.
“If there is going to be something that happened it would be the grand jury … it would be brought in front of the grand jury … they already told me to be … that was a potential but they did tell me that wasn’t an absolute,” Holm said.
We’ll have to wait and see where this investigation leads, but it doesn’t look good for either Sanders at the moment. But this is certainly good news for those who don’t want a wannabe socialist like Bernie even flirting with the presidency.
