For sports lovers, it’s been pretty sad watching the slow decline of the once watchable ESPN. The network has turned into a left-wing propaganda mill that’s caring less and less about sports and more about shaming half the country for not being “woke” enough.
ESPN’s fully on board with the Black Lives Matter movement and has allowed its commentators to spout liberal garbage with impunity. This, in turn, has caused a dramatic decline in ratings, which you’d think would cause them to reevaluate things. But it hasn’t. Instead, they’ve doubled down on politicking, with the latest incident coming from the limp-wristed Max Kellerman, who’s always more than happy to shove left-wing politics down people’s throats.
As reported at the Daily Mail, in a transparent attempt to appear consistent with his views, professional pearl-clutcher and ESPN host Max Kellerman said Tuesday that Notre Dame should get rid of its “Fighting Irish” nickname, because, you know, it’s racist.
Of course, this comes in the wake of the decision by the Cleveland Indians to change their long-time Indian logo, as it’s been dubbed insensitive and racist as well. On top of similar changes in recent years by teams with Indian type mascots or anything that leftists can construe as racist.
Kellerman also said on Tuesday that he’s been thanked by Native Americans for his opposing offensive nicknames. So what? When it comes to the mascot and nickname tripe, survey after survey has shown the overwhelming majority of Native Americans don’t care, but I guess the offended ones are the only opinions that matter.
“When I go to Native American reservations around the country to call fights, I am approached – I’ve received feathers in honor and letters saying, “Thank you for your stance”,” he said. How often do you go to reservations, Max? Most east coast elites have never even seen an Indian in the flesh, yet you make it seem like you routinely visit them.
“Many Irish-Americans are not offended, but many are. And should that also change? The answer is yes, unequivocally yes,” Kellerman said.
“Pernicious, negative stereotypes of marginalized people that offend even some among them should be changed. It’s not that hard.” What a typical leftist stance. We should all bow down to the feelings of the fragile, fraction of a percent of people on this and every issue.
Making this more amusing is that Kellerman and company routinely say that whites can’t be marginalized, stereotyped, or offended by racism since they’re the majority in the US and most savage, privileged color of all. So how does this view square with the Left’s anti-white views and agenda?
Kellerman is a dyed in the wool leftist, so it’s hardly surprising he suggests such a thing. Unlike him, his comrades, and folks that whine about these types of things, the Irish don’t find the mascot offensive in the least, which they let him know on social media. But it’s not the 95 percent that matter, it’s the outliers, the special snowflakes. They’re the people that matter and who we should willingly give up our culture and rights for.
