President Trump officially filed a motion to silence Stormy Daniels. He and his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, asked the court Monday for private arbitration in the case.
Daniels accepted $130,000 in 2016 to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Donald Trump. Once he became president she realized she could make more money shopping her story around and she stopped caring about the nondisclosure agreement that she signed.
“We will vigorously oppose the just-filed motion by DJT and MC to have this case decided in a private arbitration, in a private conf room, hidden from the American public,” Daniels’ lawyer wrote on Twitter.
“This is a democracy and this matter should be decided in an open court of law owned by the people. #sunlight.”
People are getting sick of hearing about Daniels but the scandal is still dragging on. Most Americans don’t really care about the president’s consensual sexual encounters, especially ones that occurred before he was in office. Daniels and Trump met 12 years ago.
“This is about the extent that Mr. Cohen and the president have gone to intimidate this woman, to silence her, to threaten her, and to put her under their thumb. It is thuggish behavior from people in power. And it has no place in American democracy,” Daniels’ lawyer complained.
“You threaten someone with a $20 million lawsuit, it’s a thuggish tactic. It’s no different than what happened in the parking lot in Las Vegas.”
Daniels claims a Trump associate threatened to rough her up in a Las Vegas parking lot a few years ago. She brought up the allegation for the first time during her recent interview with Anderson Cooper.
Daniels and her team want the case to play out in the court of public opinion. It doesn’t matter anymore if the judge lifts the gag order, Daniels has already blabbed about the affair multiple times. At this point, she’s just building up her fame.
