A father’s touching gesture has gone viral. The Tennessee man passed away from cancer five years ago, but his daughter still receives flowers for her birthday.
Michael William Sellers arranged for a florist to send a flower arrangement to his daughter, Bailey, every year until her 21st birthday. This year, Bailey received her final bouquet.
“My dad passed away when I was 16 from cancer and before he died he pre-paid flowers so I could receive them every year on my birthday,” she wrote on Twitter. “Well, this is my 21st birthday flowers and the last. Miss you so much daddy.”
It’s been a rough month for politics; it’s a refreshing to hear about something that isn’t monstrous or devastating. Bailey lost her father, but not his love. His desire to make her feel special can still be felt.
“Ever since my dad passed away I’ve hated my birthday and I dread it every year because he always made it so special… I was especially dreading my 21st because I knew it would be the last year,” Bailey said.
The birthday bouquet came with a card written by her father.
“This is my last love letter to you until we meet again,” he wrote.
“I do not want you to shed another tear for me my baby girl for I am in a better place… Be happy and live life to the fullest… I will still be with you through every milestone, just look around and there I will be.”
