The fake news peddlers should stick to their wheelhouse. CNN hack Dylan Byers tried to talk about culture, and he’s getting slammed. Turns out his opinions are even more insulting than people imagined.
Byers complained about the brain drain sucking men out of Hollywood.
“Beyond the pain/humiliation women have endured (which is, of course, the paramount issue), it’s worth taking stock of the incredible drain of talent from media/entertainment taking place right now,” Byers tweeted.
“Never has so much talent left the industry all at once.”
Men are being chased out of Tinseltown because their crimes have been exposed. Who cares about their “talent”? For every Kevin Spacey, there are a thousand other men who could take his place. Acting, while a skill, isn’t exactly a rare one.
Twitter instantly reacted with rage.
“As penance for this terrible take u should give your job to a woman who left journalism in her early 20s after being sexually harassed,” Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, culture editor at Jezebel, tweeted.
New Yorker writer Helen Rosner, meanwhile, tweeted: “’Dylan do you need a woman to explain to you why this was a bad tweet?”
Byers attempted a weak apology. “I’ve deleted my previous tweet. It was poorly worded and didn’t properly convey my intended observation,” he wrote.
I would argue that he conveyed his message pretty well. He’s upset that the slew of sexual assault allegations have ruined the careers of men he liked. There’s no other way to interpret what he said.
Wow. Someone is already having fun on the Wikipedia page of Dylan Byers. People act rapidly! pic.twitter.com/Pli0xC2MFp
