CNN is wildly unpopular. Its fake news shtick was popular for about five minutes. Now, ratings are tumbling. The network is in a tough spot. People who want to hear a shrill liberal talk about fake news watch MSNBC.
On Friday, none of CNN’s shows managed to pull in more than 823,000 viewers. Those numbers are pitiful, an airing of a documentary about the pope was more popular.
Breitbart notes:
“On Thursday, a regular news day and not a holiday, CNN averaged only 703,000 viewers throughout the day (barely beating Easter Sunday), and only 918,000 during primetime… For the sake of comparison, on Thursday and Friday, both MSNBC and Fox News absolutely crushed CNN with as many as twice up to three times as many viewers.”
CNN’s not as offensive as MSNBC and it’s not as hard-hitting as Fox News. It’s bland. The network tried to define itself as TV’s anti-Trump zone but MSNBC is doing it better. Liberals like listening to Rachel Maddow’s ridiculous theories more than Don Lemon’s.
CNN executives don’t want this story to spread. Sean Hannity rules cable news, although Rachel Maddow is close behind him. None of CNN’s pundits are doing very well.
Over the past six months, “Fox News was also the most watched network in all of cable (not just news), averaging 1.37 million total day and 2.21 primetime viewers. MSNBC came in second with 1 million average total day viewers and 1.73 million primetime viewers.”
CNN, meanwhile, couldn’t even crack the top five most viewed networks.
“In all of cable during this last quarter, due to an embarrassing average viewership of just 690,000, CNN crash-landed into 7th place in total daytime viewers. Things were even worse for the anti-Trump channel in primetime, where it flopped into 11th place,” Breitbart writes.
CNN needs to update its programming or the network’s popularity is going to continue to wither.
