Politicians on both sides of the aisle are dealing with the fallout from the sexual abuse allegations made against Sen. Al Franken. Prolific TV and radio host Leeann Tweeden accused Franken of forcing her to kiss him and groping her breasts while she was asleep.
Tweeden backed her claims by providing a picture a Franken grinning like an idiot while his hands hover over her breasts. Tweeden, who was asleep when the picture was taken, never consented.
Franken felt so comfortable assaulting a woman that he didn’t care if people took pictures. He must have thought that he was untouchable.
Liberal leader Sen. Chuck Schumer is among the first high-profile Democrats to call for an investigation into Franken’s crimes.
“Sexual harassment is never acceptable and must not be tolerated,” Schumer said in a statement.
“I hope and expect that the Ethics Committee will fully investigate this troubling incident, as they should with any credible allegation of sexual harassment.”
Franken can’t deny the accusations because Tweeden provided photo evidence. There’s no way that he can justify that picture. Tweeden’s eyes are closed and her head lolls back in obvious sleep. Franken’s lecherous grin as he leans over her body is disgusting.
Because he can’t deny his guilt, Franken is choosing to go along with requests for an ethics investigation.
“I understand why we need to listen to and believe women’s experiences,” Franken said in the statement. “I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate.”
I’ve decided it’s time to tell my story. #MeToohttps://t.co/TqTgfvzkZg
