Bleary-eyed stoners weren’t the only ones puffing marijuana on New Year’s Eve. CNN tried to grab ratings by getting their host high. Reporter Randi Kaye partied on the CannaBus in Denver, giggling and stumbling along with a group of rowdy smokers.
“We have the party started here. There is a little bit of purple haze. We call this the magic bus. The CannaBus, get it?,” Kaye laughed during a live report on CNN’s New Year’s Eve show.
Back in New York City, a bemused Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen joked about Kaye’s habits.
“Is Randi Kaye like, a notorious stoner that I don’t know about?” Cohen said cheekily.
“No, not at all. She’s just very game to report and go to the front lines on things,” Cooper responded.
Kaye proved that she was very “game” indeed. She not only partied with stoners, she held bongs to her face and toyed with joints while the camera rolled.
“I thought maybe I would bring a gas mask with me, so I wouldn’t get that contact high. But look at what’s on the other end of the gas mask. Yes, a bong!… I don’t think this is really what a gas mask is used for, but, wow! Okay! This is New Year’s Eve Denver style,” said Kaye.
The Trump administration’s stance on legal marijuana is murky. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has often raged about the drug’s evils, but President Trump has taken a much more muted approach. So far, they’ve left state marijuana laws unmolested.
Is 2018 going to be the year of the stoner?
