It’s become much more difficult for conservative presidents to pursue their agendas than it is for leftists. Thanks to the Left’s near-ubiquitous control of the court systems, it’s nearly impossible for executive actions to be implemented if they have a Republican author.
Trump has experienced this first-hand, as his executive powers have been stymied thus far by radical leftists judges, who take great joy in single-handedly blocking his agenda. This is especially true on the issue of immigration, as Trump’s policies have been thwarted numerous times already. And with the next big fight concerning DACA, a rogue judge has once again taken it upon himself to undermine the president.
As reported at the New York Post, ahead of the DACA showdown, US District Judge William Alsup has temporarily blocked the president’s executive decision to end the program.
The decision came on Tuesday when Alsup granted a request by California and other plaintiffs to prevent Trump from ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program while their various lawsuits are adjudicated.
The DACA program is a massive bargaining chip in Trump’s immigration reform agenda, with many conservative voters wanting an end to it altogether. However, it appears that the president, and especially the amnesty-loving GOP, is intent on continuing the protections this select group of illegals has received up until now. But if leftist judges are going to block any attempt to end it anyway, it devalues the program as a bargaining chip to get concessions on other important reforms.
The announcement of the end of the program came from Attorney General Jeff Sessions in September, and it predictably sparked immediate lawsuits and outrage from sanctuary cities and states alike.
It’s hardly a surprise that it’s a California judge doing the honors of blocking the action, as the state officially declared itself a sanctuary for illegals starting this year. DACA is so important for leftists because granting them amnesty will result in getting almost all of their votes, so it’s all about the ballot box when it comes to this and especially the overall illegal immigration issue.
It would be great if the feckless GOP was able to end the program, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening. Which means they better produce some serious results in other areas since they’re going to be conceding on such a contentious issue.
