Serious people don’t watch CNN, so they’re trying to appeal to empty-headed liberals. Unfortunately for the network, that plan isn’t working either. They squashed their new Snapchat endeavor within four months of starting it.
For a while, CNN produced a daily Snapchat news story that they referred to as “The Update.” It bombed miserably. Snapchat hosts paid advertiser and publisher content, but CNN has been struggling to make a profit on the platform.
“Snap and CNN have built a great partnership over the years and our teams have enormous admiration for each other,” the companies said in a joint statement.
“We plan to keep working together and mutually decided to hit pause as we explore the best opportunities for doing that. Our relationship will very much be continuing.”
CNN is no longer relevant. It’s always been less popular than MSNBC, but now they’re really starting to lag behind. CNN’s airy, frothy coverage makes it the perfect network to be blasted in waiting rooms. Its anchors are far less offensive, if less interesting than MSNBC’s.
TVNewser writes: “Double-digit increase during an election year is expected. But with intense coverage of the Trump Administration’s first year, cable news revenue continues to grow. Fox News has increased revenue +12 percent. CNN is seeing +15 percent growth, and MSNBC is up a whopping +26 percent this year.”
MSNBC is peddling nonsense, but their viewers are lapping it up. CNN is just doing a weaker version of the same trick. Their overall numbers are up for this year, but they’re still in third place.
