Much has been made about Colin Kaepernick’s sitting down during the national anthem in protest. So much so that you may be hearing liberals and Democrats shunning and dismissing the anger at Kaepernick by saying things like, “You don’t bat an eye when players violently beat or rape women, but now you’re outraged when someone protests the national anthem. SMH.”
That was direct quote from a liberal acquaintance of mine on Facebook, who will remain anonymous. Guess what? We were outraged at that too and voiced it in full, you’re just too thick to remember as you’re a liberal and have the political and social memory of a gnat.
What we’re mad at isn’t motives behind the protest, it’s the fact that Kaepernick used America and the national anthem as his platform for protesting police and social injustice. Our system and our country allows you to protest whatever you want, and that’s a wonderful thing.
Where else in the world can you actively speak out against your own government with no repercussions? Yep, nowhere – and that’s part of what’s amazing and great about America. But the platform and background that Kaepernick did it for is absolutely and 100% UN-American. There is an time and place for protest, and that is not one of them.
Bill O’Reilly explains why and makes an example of another NFL player, linebacker for the Denver Broncos Brandon Marshall, showing how truly inane and ridiculous this form of protest truly is.
“To be fair, bad things do happen in this country … and they must be confronted. But to disrespect our entire system, when you have reaped so much benefit from it, is fallacious in the extreme.”
I don’t think there’s really much more to say about that. I’ll leave you with this:
If you are an NFL player and reading this, if you are anyone else and think that protesting the national anthem is in any way helping to unify this country of bring a new level of awareness to social injustice, stop. Just stop. What you’re doing has absolutely nothing to do with social injustice. The flag, the national anthem, and the freedoms you possess are something you should cherish and be proud of and you should celebrate those freedoms. You could have been born a sex slave in the Middle east. You could have been born starving in Africa, oppressed by a government that murders their own people for political gain. Don’t disrespect everyone that’s had a limb blown off so your spoiled, pampered ass can be worshiped by fans. You have 5 year olds watching you and looking up to you and people need the correct guidance.
Clearly you need some better guidance too.
