Last month Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, TJMaxx, Marshals and Homegoods among others, pulled Ivanka Trump’s products, claiming poor sales for what they called a “business decision.” This decision was suspiciously timed, as the Grab Your Wallet campaign had just started pushing for a boycott of stores that carry any and all Trump-related products.
Unfortunately for them, most of these stores don’t take food stamps and the hard working middle class did indeed grab their wallets to support the first daughter. Ivanka Trump’s line had a 346% increase in sales from January to February of this year.
Trump Criticised the companies that removed Ivanka’s products, and he encouraged people to support her. This, of course, got him all kinds of criticism from the people who considered this to be collusion.
Whatever you want to call it, it worked. Americans came out in droves to support Ivanka Trump’s line. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that she’s the President’s daughter, or just that conservatives are sick of the liberal agenda and being told what to do, but in this case there’s not much that could have been better for her sales.
As many pointed out though, this wasn’t just a matter of political support, the line of women’s clothing is truly beautiful. It’s doubtful that middle Americans would have spent their hard earned dollars on bad clothes. After all, we have to make sure that we save a lot of our money for taxes. There are a lot of professional welfare collectors who are counting on us. They need to have something in their wallet to grab too.
