Breaking news today confirms that in some cases, justice does win out, no matter how hard the unjust try to stop it. Former congressman Anthony Weiner is feeling that today since all of his misdeeds have come to a stopping point with his arrest by the FBI.
Via NBC News:
Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner wept openly in federal court Friday as he pleaded guilty to sexting a 15-year-old girl — and became emotional as he admitted to the judge: “I have a sickness, but I do not have an excuse.”
Weiner, 52, pleaded guilty in Federal District Court in lower Manhattan to transferring obscene material to a minor. Under a plea agreement, prosecutors asked he serve 21 to 27 months behind bars. He must also register as a sex offender.
He answered the judge’s questions before reading a prepared statement to the court, explaining how he was contacted by the girl online in January 2016 and knew she was 15.
If we can agree with Mr. Weiner about one thing, it’s that he does indeed have a sickness and one that probably won’t fair well in prison. We don’t yet know what his sentence will be, but considering the high-profile nature of the case, there will no doubt be a whole lot of people with a lot of opinions waiting to hear what the final verdict will be. He could receive up to 10years in prison, but what are the chances we will get that lucky.
For now, at least, we can take heart in the fact that he’s been outed for the pervert that he is and will hopefully be taken off the streets soon.
