Ann Coulter loves to make headlines. Being pro-Trump is boring and predictable for a right-wing pundit, so she’s switched course. She’s now regularly attacking President Trump.
She appeared on Fox News last week and had a lot to say.
“A switch changed with him. An elegant person wouldn’t have said the things he was saying,” Coulter, 56, said.
“It was precisely that he was so coarse that allowed him to say these incredibly courageous things. He didn’t care what Manhattan elites thought of him. Now all he wants is for Goldman Sachs to like him. don’t know what happened. But that’s a different president. I haven’t changed. He has.”
Coulter was a vehement Trump supporter while he was still a candidate.
“We had 16 lunatics being chased by men with nets running for president—and Trump,” Coulter said.
“So of course I had to be pedal-to-the-metal for Donald Trump. I’d been waiting 30 years for someone to say all these things.”
And Trump the president hasn’t accomplished everything that he said he would, but he’s on track to. He’s paying close attention to what his voters want and trying to give it to them but has been facing extraordinary opposition and incompetence in Congress.
“He’s not giving us what he promised at every single campaign stop,” Coulter complained.
Coulter is specifically upset about the massive spending bill that Trump signed into law Friday and his treatment of illegal immigrants. She hates the idea of the Dreamers being protected and thinks that the spending bill favored the left too much.
“There are a lot of things that I’m unhappy about in this bill…I say to Congress that I will never sign another bill like this again,” Trump admitted after he signed it.
Insulting President Trump is popular right now. It’s not surprising to see Coulter adopt this tactic because she thrives on getting attention and creating a scandal.
