Somebody told me once that if you’re not a liberal by the time you’re 20 you don’t have a heart and if you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 40 you don’t have a brain. I don’t know if that means that all of Hollywood is once again trying desperately to hold on to their youth at the expense of reason, or if they genuinely don’t have brains, but something over on the left coast has gone sideways.
Sunday night, a room full of, supposedly fully functioning adults, listened to a comedian take shots at President Trump, and spout about how what we really need is “positive conversations.”
There is something so youthfully optimistic in this theory; the idea that all of the disagreement in this country is just one big misunderstanding IS something that a young, bright-eyed idealist would embrace as their great white hope.
The fact is, that so much of what any human believes, is motivated by their world view, and unfortunately, the worldview of many of the politicians these stars back is one of power hungry, money grubbing selfishness.
I realize that these celebrities themselves, may not actually have the foresight to see where there idealistic views will take them, which is why THEY ARE NOT POLITICIANS!
These people are not elected to anything, they didn’t run on a platform of logic and reason, and yet people worship their political views as if they have intrinsic merit. Just because a person beautiful bone structure and good vocal projection says something, does NOT make it so. Let me say that again for the cheap seats:
I REPEAT, BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE DON’T MAKE THE LAWS OF ECONOMIC AND HUMAN NATURE. Actors and actresses literally get their jobs because they are good at lying.
I’ll close with a quote from one of the belles of last night’s ball.
It is well that the earth is round that we do not see too far ahead – Meryl Streep
