For decades now, the most listened to man in America has been on the cutting edge of political analysis and truth-telling. Rush Limbaugh has been the vanguard of the conservative movement for a long time now, giving a voice to the multitudes of working class Americans that all too often are betrayed by the very party tasked with representing them.
While his words are often a powerful warning to the Republican Establishment, which literally listens to and mostly heeds them, the closet liberals in the party have started to ignore Limbaugh’s warnings, instead opting to repeatedly drive the knife into conservatives’ backs. It’s something we, as conservatives, have become accustomed to. Betrayal.
However, Trump’s campaign and presidency was supposed to be a massive rebuke of the Republican Establishment, and the beginning of the party’s reformation. Thus far, it hasn’t been what was promised, as the GOP is still up to the same cowardly tricks. But there’s still hope, as the brains and ideology behind Trump’s most popular policies is taking it upon himself to purge the GOP of all its undesirables.
As reported at Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh said this week that Breitbart News Executive Chairman and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon is “taking over the role of the Republican Party” as he looks toward the 2018 midterms, where he plans to support conservative challengers to take down all the Establishment traitors.
“I think what Bannon is doing is slowly but surely taking over the role of the Republican Party, and people joining Bannon are [doing the same],” he said Wednesday. “The Republican Party is obviously not with [President] Trump on balance — you have some in the House who are — but the Republican Party on balance is not with Trump.”
Bannon is the man behind essentially every one of Trump’s policies that got him into the White House. He’s been a vociferous critic of the GOP and it’s years of failures when it comes to upholding the conservative values it claims to protect. His recent exit from the White House initially looked like a bad thing, but the reality is that he probably has more power and influence running Breitbart than he would have if he stayed at Trump’s side.
Limbaugh talked about Bannon’s impending war on the GOP Establishment, saying that it comes in the wake of more betrayal and party members’ open flirting with the radical Left.
Limbaugh said: “Some people make an argument that there really isn’t a Republican Party left. I mean, there are people who call themselves that and they go out and raise money and they raise a lot. But whereas the party used to be known for one, two, or three very serious things, they’re not anymore. When the Republican Party joins the Democratic Party on things like amnesty for illegal immigrants — that’s not the Republican Party. The Republican Party ceases to exist in the area of immigration, for example.”
Despite being handed all the power they’ve begged for over the years, we’ve just seen the GOP once again fail to repeal Obamacare, something they swore they’d do and had 8 years to prepare for. Even more egregious is the fact they just witnessed their base elect Trump thanks to his rhetoric and plans on immigration, yet they’re still doing everything they can to block any serious attempts at reform.
There comes a point in time when betrayal is no longer tolerable, and we’ve long crossed that line. But only now do we have a man that truly believes in the conservative cause and also possess the means and courage to fearlessly oppose the radical Left. Bannon is our best hope at reigning in the GOP. Should he fail, the party is officially over.
