When Syrian Refugees Wanted To Come In, Alabama And Michigan Said NOT SO FAST!

After France closed its borders, The U.S. responded in a way I’d never thought possible.

If you hadn’t heard, recently Michigan had come under fire for having programs that allowed Syrian refugees to enter the U.S. and begin their lives anew in their respective states. Our own Department of Homeland Security helped settle about 200 refugees in Michigan. Something that many American’s haven’t been too pleased with.

Well, after seeing the inhumanity and destruction of the Paris attacks, Alabama’s governor has seen all that he needs to and has officially said they would accept NO Syrian refugees!

From Gawker Media:

Over the past year, the Department of Homeland Security has helped to resettle about 200 Syrian refugees in Michigan, the Detroit Free Press reports. Altogether, between 1,800 and 2,000 refugees, mostly from Iraq, have been resettled there in the past year. In September, the Obama administration announced a plan to accept 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016.

‘After full consideration of this weekend’s attacks of terror on innocent citizens in Paris, I will oppose any attempt to relocate Syrian refugees to Alabama through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program,’ Alabama Governor Robert Bentley said later on Sunday. ‘As your Governor, I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm’s way.’

Amen! Finally someone in this country with some damn common sense!

It won’t end with this, as I’m sure Obama will try to smuggle more refugees in some how, but this is a fantastic start. I urge all Americans and politicians to follow this example and to not accept potential terrorists into our borders!
