Why?
After all the heartache, the blood, the pain, one question is being asked over and over again. Why? Stephen Paddock was a retiree with a plump bank account and a girlfriend. Yet on Sunday night, Paddock used modified assault rifles to pump bullets into an unsuspecting crowd.
Investigators believe that Paddock probably had help with the attack, although they haven’t indicated who that person, or persons, might be.
“You got to make the assumption he had to have help at some point, and we want to ensure that’s the answer,” Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said. “Maybe he’s a super guy,
“Maybe he’s a super guy, super hero–not a hero, super–I won’t use the word. Maybe he’s super — that was working out this out on his own, but it will be hard for me to believe that.”
One alarming example of Paddock’s madness became buried in the mayhem. Inside his car, which was parked inside the Mandalay Bay garage, police found bomb-making materials. What was he planning to do? Sheriff Lombardo indicated that the police had evidence that Paddock originally intended to escape the massacre with his life.
There are far more questions than answers.
