After Mass Protests, Look What Just Happened To NFL Ratings

Haha. It looks like NFL players will face consequences for their unpatriotic protests- smaller paychecks. Ratings are out, and Americans are not pleased with the NFL. If viewership continues to plummet, revenues will tank and players will see their hefty salaries shrink in response.

President Trump’s war with the league might soon have a victor. People love football. When they tune into a game they want to see action, not an offensive political display. Football fields are the wrong place to stage a demonstration.

AP News reports: “Through three weeks, viewership for national telecasts of NFL games is down 11 percent this season compared to 2016… Nielsen said the games averaged 17.63 million viewers for the first three weeks of last season, and have dipped to 15.65 million this year.”

It’s just going to get worse. Fans are sick of the protest. Players should have got the hint when Colin Kaepernick, the original NFL agitator, wasn’t asked to play this year. If the NFL has a problem with police brutality, there are much more effective ways for the league to make its point than disrespecting the national anthem.

It’ll be curious to see what happens this weekend. Conservative pundits are calling for viewers to protest the upcoming games by refusing to watch, while their liberal counterparts are urging players to continue their defiance.
