After months of accusations of collusion between President Trump’s campaign and the Russians, the President finally met the Russian leader face to face. The two of them had a very civil conversation about global issues, and each side is claiming to have made the most headway with the other.
Curiously though, after all this time of painting the Russians as these big bad enemies of the United States (and probably rightly so) apparently the liberals have decided that the enemy of their enemy must be their friend. Not only are they now saying that Putin “won” the sit-down, they’re literally singing his praises.
Via Fox News:
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that “Television Trump” is very different from the real President Trump.
“As I see it, Television Trump is very different from the real person,” Putin said Saturday at a press conference. “He is absolutely concrete, absolutely adequately perceives the interlocutor, quite quickly analyzes, answers questions or draws from the discussions some new elements.
“As regards personal relations, I think they are established,” the Russian president stated.
Afterwards, the Russian foreign minister asserted that Trump had accepted Putin’s denial of election interference, a claim the White House pushed back on.
“There is no basis to believe that Russia interfered in the electoral process of the United States,” Putin said.
Both presidents were optimistic about working together on many issues, such as cybersecurity in the future.
Basically, the President was never going to be able to win for losing. If the meeting went badly, it would be because he was incompetent. Since it went well, they’re no doubt looking to say it’s because they’ve always been in cahoots.
I’ll be honest, this is kind of confusing. Now they think that Putin, who they formerly wanted to say colluded with President Trump, is Trump’s enemy. That’s flip one; and they also think he’s just the bee’s knees, that’s flip two. I don’t know how they know who to support and who to bash on any given day. Just about the only constant is that they just hate on the President whenever possible.
As far as the President not having as much experience in intelligence agencies, of course, he doesn’t because he’s not been a career politician. For the record, Obama and his extremely short tenure on Capitol Hill before entering the Presidency wasn’t exactly a long running history of working well with others (think community organizer). But never let it be said that they let the facts interfere with their chosen narrative.
