The death of Eric Chase Bolling Jr. rattled his friends and family. The teenager died mere hours after his famous father was publicly fired by Fox News. Immediately people began blaming the disgraced former news host, insisting that Eric Chase died from shame.
A close friend of Eric Chase is now speaking out to set the record straight.
“He was very into his dad and looked up to his dad a lot,” Wayne Carter, 21, told the Daily News.
“I’m not saying his life choices revolved around his dad but his dad was a huge role model in his life. You’d go to a party and he was a cool guy but he’d be like, ‘Oh guys, do you know who my dad is?’ And we’d be like, ‘Yes Eric, we know who your dad is!’”
However, Carter believes that his father’s firing wasn’t the cause of Eric Chase’s death.
“I’ll put it like this – he was a partier,” Carter explained. “I don’t think he would have intentionally done it [killed himself]. But I definitely think he upped it once when he heard that news and that’s what caused his demise.”
Overdose speculations have been tossed around since the college student’s surprise death last Friday. Healthy 19-year-olds don’t die in their sleep.
“I don’t think he intentionally did that [killed himself]. He was great,” Carter insisted. “I think it would be good for his dad to know this, because I think his dad might think this is all on him because it’s his son, the sexual scandal and all that stuff.”
The Bolling family announced this week that the autopsy was complete, but the investigation into Eric Chase’s death was still underway.
