Well, this is pretty disturbing. Liberal tripe is usually offensive, but what disgraced CBS executive Hayley Geftman-Gold posted on Facebook is absolutely foul.
The full extent of Sunday night’s Las Vegas massacre still isn’t known, yet Geftman-Gold felt comfortable denigrating the victims on social media. The death toll, currently at 58, could easily rise as hundreds of injured people are still being treated.
“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs [sic] will ever do the right thing,” Geftman-Gold wrote. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc [sic] country music fans often are Republican gun toters [sic].”
In other words, the Republican’s supposed callousness after the Sandy Hook shooting means that conservatives don’t deserve sympathy when they’re shot. It’s a terribly crude statement, written, shockingly, by a senior CBS executive.
Geftman-Gold wasn’t some lowly intern, she was the network’s vice president and senior counsel. In CBS’s defense, they’ve already fired her.
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” the network said in a statement.
Good riddance.
