The thriving metropolis of Baltimore Maryland has some serious problems on their hands in 2017. Their murder rate for the first 4 months of 2017 is the highest in almost 20 years, and they don’t expect it to slow down.
According to newly-elected Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, the murder rate in her city is “out of control” and she wants the federal government to come in and fix it, caused by the turmoil allowed by her predecessor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who famously said that society needed to give rioters the space to destroy their own communities.

“There are too many guns on the streets. We’re looking for all the help we can get,” Pugh said Wednesday during a news conference.
Baltimore has had more murders in the first four months of the year than during the same time period of any year going back nearly 20 years. The number of murders in Baltimore so far this year is 101. That’s up 30 percent from last year.
As if the city’s skyrocketing murder rate weren’t high enough, though, Baltimore also now has another problem on its hands. During the 2000s, there were always at least 2,900 police officers on the Baltimore Police Department’s payroll. Today, that number is 2,500.

I’m sure that none of this has anything to do with the fact that Baltimore sent out an alert, welcoming illegal immigrants near the end of last year. According to the mayor, the officers don’t check the legal status of those they detain. This is in direct defiance of what the federal government has asked, and yet they persist in their futile efforts to endear themselves to the illegal population.
Now though, their fighting chickens have come home to roost, and who do they want to bail them out? Of course, the very government whose orders they ignored. They actually have the audacity to ask the FBI to come intervene, while holding on to their sanctuary policies and crying foul about the government cutting funding to them because of their illegal city policies.
I don’t know how they plan to work this problem out, but I suspect that the government is going to take a “my money my rules” approach to dealing with the problem. Otherwise, as soon as the streets are cleaned up, they will get a fresh batch of lawbreakers who have no real fear of retribution ready to take the place of those currently there.
